WooHOOOOO! Classroom preview

I finally got into my room for the first time yesterday! I am at a new school, in a new district, AND in a new grade....so I felt VERY out of the loop! My anxiety was getting the best of me, because I feel like the first day of school is around the corner AND I will be out of town (lying on the beach) all next week! So, I finally made it up to the school to work in my room.

It turns out that I am having mixed emotions about my room at the moment.

I LOVE the storage, huge window, and bulletin board space!

BUT I am bummed that I have SO much furniture and NO where to put it!

This classroom came with so much extra stuff!  This poses a problem since I really don't like a cluttered classroom! I like things to be against a wall and my room to be open. So, I will definitely have some things to work out, but before I get to that..... I decided to work on my walls!

Working on my walls made me happy because it helped make the room feel more like my own!
Unfortunately, halfway through I ran out of matching border....bummer.... so I'll have to make a run to the teacher store before returning up there tomorrow- It stinks 'cause Man...I was on a role!

Here is a little peek of my progress
.....

Reading and "Interesting Words" wall!

My CAFE menu and "Books We Love" bulletin board will go here.

Student Work board and Writing station!

You can see one of the extra pieces of furniture in this pic. It's bulky and I don't have a place for it! :(

AND don't forget I ran out of border! ;)

Although I am not happy about all the extra furniture, I am in love with these shelves below! I got the baskets from the target $1 section! They match my color scheme and fit PERFECTLY in the holes for my guided reading corner! I am going to need all those holes for the double number of groups since I'm departmentalized now! This also makes me happy :)

Anywhooooo.... :) (Yes, my theme is owls this year) That is a little preview. It feels like a HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I can take a deep breath!

Siiiiiggggghhhhhhh

I'm starting to get less anxious and more excited about my new adventure in second grade!
