I found some cute owl clip art and I created a packet that includes spinners, cards, sliders, and activity/game sheets! The thing I like about this little packet is that you can mix and match the materials in different ways to match your students needs!
Here is one of the slider mats with a slider inside the slit with a word family card.
I added a blank slider and blank cards for you to add your own word families or onsets if you'd like :)
Example of spinners-
There are 9 total spinners in the packet. 3 onset spinners, 3 blend onset spinners, and 3 word family spinners.
Here are a couple of activity sheets. Students record words in the family and illustrate and students record the real word and write a sentence.
Games!
For all of these games you can use an onset spinner and word family spinner OR an onset spinner and specific word family cards.
All game recording sheets are half sheets. I am big on saving paper so I like to use half sheets and copy them on both sides for them to play multiple games.
Partner Game: Students spin and record whether it is a real or nonsense word.
Spin a Word: Student individually spins and records whether it is a real or nonsense word.
Spin a Word w/ specific word family: Same game but made to focus on a specific word family.
Example of how you can either use the onset spinner with the word family spinner or an onset spinner with a specific word family card for any of the activities!
OKay, I know this was A LOT but I hope you like it! I can't wait to put these in my word work station! I know my students usually LOVE spinners and games! :)
If you like it, slide on over to my TpT store to purchase it! :)
Also let me know if you have any ideas that I can add to it! :) I think I've already got a few.
If you've made it this far- I'm going to do a little give-a-way! The first 3 people to comment will get it for free! Don't forget to leave your email!
Love your Word families are a Hoot! :) Too cute

Oh my gosh! Those word family owls are awesome! I'd love to make some to use with my daughter. I haven't been in a classroom since I had my first child 4 years ago, but work with her at home quite a bit. Sometimes I really miss teaching. Then I remember that I don't have to get up before dawn, and I forget all that! lol But maybe when she's 5 and goes to Kindergarten, I'll go back. :) I just followed...and I look forward to reading more!
ReplyDeleteEven thoughI am not one of the first 3....I love your activity.
