Spelling Station Idea!

A while back, I had my husband make me a mini pocket chart stand that I could use with my Target dollar section pocket charts. Now I just needed an idea of what to use them for! I had been trying to think of some different ways for my students to practice spelling words during literacy stations.  So, I decided to write our weekly spelling words on sentence strips, but I used two different colors. One color for the spelling pattern for the week and then one for the beginning or ending sounds. Then cut apart each sound. That way the students could practice putting the words together and taking them apart. They can also extend their learning by making other words with the spelling pattern that aren't on our list!

I also figured out a good way that multiple students could work on this chart at one time. I put two pocket charts back to back. I keep the spelling words from the previous week up on one side and add the current words to the other side. (Then as you add new lists you can send home the old words in a baggie with a friend as a fun reward! )  My kids then record their words in their workstation journals. :) They seem to really like it! It is a very 'easy to put together' station.

Any other fun ideas for this mini chart out there?!?!
