Awards and Freebies!!

Wow! Within 2 days, I was nominated by 3 different blogger friends for the Liebster Blog Award! :) I am definitely feeling the love!! :)

A special thank you goes to Tarra over at Chalkboard Chit Chat! She was the first wonderful fellow blogger who nominated me! :)
She definitely has some super cute ideas over in her neck of the woods!

Another big THANKS goes to Leanne over at Spend a day in Second Grade! She was the second blogger to nominate me!
She is coming out with a Graphing packet soon! Be sure to keep an eye out!

The third fellow blogger to nominate me was Julia @ Loving and Learning in Pre-K! A huge ThAnKs to my fellow Texas teacher! :)  She has some wonderful ideas annnnd oddly enough, I was going to nominate her for the Liebster award the same day as she nominated me! :) Crazy Weird!

**Now my requirements are to pick other bloggers to pass along this wonderful award to! I am in the process of doing so, but I wanted to get my thanks out to these three wonderful ladies first!!

Thanks again for the love! Tomorrow is the first day back to school with the kiddos and now I am officially back into "teacher" mode.

Math Freebies!

While I'm posting, I might as well stick some freebies in here! :) I just created some different activities for my students to do in math stations.

We are constantly reviewing comparing numbers in calendar and stations so here is a recording sheet that a student can use to do so! Just click on the pictures to download!

Comparing Numbers!

The student roles two dice to create a number. First die is the tens and the second die is the ones. They write that number in the box. Afterwards, they continue to roll numbers. They record those numbers in the correct column. Is each number less than or greater than their first number?

Shapes!
These sheets I copied 2 sided. I made them a half sheet so my students could tape or glue them into their math journals. We are introducing 2D shapes this short week back and these are simple shape activities for them to complete after the introduction lesson.

Guided Math Planning

I created these planning sheets for me to use for my small guided math groups. I pull 3 groups for math each day and this was a more simple way to map out the week ahead. The first sheet is to jot notes for whole group and small group plans. I keep this on my math clipboard that stays on my small group horseshoe table for easy access. The second sheet is to note observations about my students on the specific skill.  I am currently using a sticky note system for my guided reading groups but am trying to decide which system works best for me. :) Again, click on the pics to download.

Soooo..... I'm definitely looking forward to starting this second semester and this new year! AND a new year means NEW Things! Which includes; looking forward to more blogging annnnnd I am getting a new student tomorrow! Incredibly, there were 45 new students enrolled in our school today {YES~ I said 45!!} and 3 of them were first graders! We already have 12 first grade teachers {again YES! I said 12} and we each have 20 or more students! Geeeeeeeeez! I guess that's what happens when you work in a growing community! Hence, our theme this year is "Growing is a Grand Adventure!" :)
{Oh and PS- It's only our 3rd year of being open}

Happy 2012! Enjoy your second semester!! :) :)
